Topological Aspects in Non - Abelian Gauge Theory
We discuss the BRST cohomology and exhibit a connection between the Hodge decomposition theorem and the topological properties of a two dimensional free non-Abelian gauge theory having no interaction with matter fields. The topological nature of this theory is encoded in the vanishing of the Laplacian operator when equations of motion are exploited. We obtain two sets of topological invariants ...
متن کاملNon-Abelian gauge theory on noncommutative spaces
We present a brief introduction to the construction of gauge theories on noncommutative spaces with star products. Particular emphasis is given to issues related to non-Abelian gauge groups and charge quantization. This talk is based on joined work with B. Jurčo, J. Madore, L. Möller, S. Schraml and J. Wess.
متن کاملGauge Invariant Effective Action in Abelian Chiral Gauge Theory on the Lattice
Lüscher’s recent formulation of Abelian chiral gauge theories on the lattice, in the vacuum (or perturbative) sector in infinite volume, is reinterpreted in terms of the lattice covariant regularization. The gauge invariance of the effective action and the integrability of the gauge current in anomaly-free cases become transparent. The real part of the effective action is simply one-half that o...
متن کاملThe Maximal Abelian Gauge in SU(3) Lattice Gauge Theory
We gauge fix 600 SU(3) β = 6.0 configurations on a 16 lattice to a simple form of the maximal abelian gauge. We project the SU(3) valued links to the U(1) × U(1) subgroup, and extract U(1) × U(1) and monopole string tensions. After gauge fixing to the indirect center gauge, the U(1)×U(1) links are projected to Z(3) and a vortex string tension is measured. The vortex and magnetic current densiti...
متن کاملGauge-Invariant Differential Renormalization: Abelian Case
A new version of differential renormalization is presented. It is based on pulling out certain differential operators and introducing a logarithmic dependence into diagrams. It can be defined either in coordinate or momentum space, the latter being more flexible for treating tadpoles and diagrams where insertion of counterterms generates tadpoles. Within this version, gauge invariance is automa...
